Funeral Services for Bertha Anne “Bert” Jones, 87, former Clinton businesswoman, will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
The family will greet guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, March 9, 2026, in the Hyman Chapel of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
Bertha Anne (Yates) Jones was born June 22, 1938, to William Leonard Yates and Zora Belle (Mackey) Yates in Creta, Oklahoma, and passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Oxford Springs Assisted Living Center in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Bert was raised in Eldorado, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1956. She married Russell Lee Watson in 1956, and they made their home in Altus, Oklahoma, where she owned and operated an upholstery shop and worked as an interior decorator for Sherwin-Williams.
She later married Dale Jones on June 21, 1980, at Holy City in Medicine Park, Oklahoma. Together they were entrepreneurs involved in several businesses in the surrounding areas and built eight Social Security buildings throughout Oklahoma and Texas. They also built and operated Laundry World, Movie World, and the Hair Palace.
She was a longtime and faithful member of First Christian Church and was also a member of AMBUCS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Jones; a son, Terry Jones; a granddaughter, Kenda Renee Jones; three brothers, Emmett Yates, Marvin Yates, and an infant brother; and two sisters, Fern Shelby and Maxine Fultz.
She is survived by her daughter, Juh-Ree Walker and husband Mark of Clinton; two sons, Christopher Watson and wife Saundra of Clinton and Kerry Jones and wife Linda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Jane (Jones) Talley and husband Bob of Duncan, Oklahoma; and a sister, Othella Reed of Columbia, Missouri.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family has suggested that those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
