Bertha Lee Washington
Funeral services for Bertha Lee Washington, age 71, lifelong Clinton resident, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Bethany Baptist Church in Clinton, with Rev. Moreland officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home of Clinton.
Bertha was born October 3, 1954, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Alfred and Mollie (McNac) Washington, and passed away peacefully at her home in Clinton on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Bertha was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1972. She had a natural gift for caring for others, which led her to a lifelong career in healthcare. Over the years, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at nearly every nursing home in Clinton, touching countless lives through her compassion and dedication. Most recently, she worked at the Clinton Veterans Center, where she cared deeply for the residents she served.
Bertha had a creative spirit and could make something special out of almost anything—her family often said she could “make something out of nothing.” She loved tending to her fish tanks, listening to her favorite music, and was known for watching all three of her televisions at once to keep up with everything she enjoyed. She also had a passion for collecting Native American memorabilia, proudly dedicating an entire room in her home to her beautiful collection.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mollie Washington; her daughter, Amanda Washington; an infant son, Charles Washington; her brothers, Roy Washington, Willie B. Murphy, and Alfred Washington Jr.; her sister, Peggy Ford; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Washington.
Bertha is lovingly survived by her son, Andre Washington and his wife Sheila of Clinton; her Goddaughter, Reece of Clinton; her sisters, Josephine Caldwell of Clinton, Doris Washington of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rita Romo of California; her brothers, Henry Washington and Toy Washington, both of Clinton; and four grandchildren: Martze Rodgers, Deondre Washington, Destiney Washington, and Andre Washington Jr.
Bertha will be remembered for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday, November 10th and 11th, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home of Clinton.
