Carolyn Sue Martin, age 78, longtime Clinton resident, was born July 19, 1948, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to A.G. and Mildred (Elliott) Cook, and passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 12, 2026, in her Clinton home.
Carol, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was raised in Clinton, where she attended Clinton Public Schools. She spent much of her life as a loving and devoted homemaker, taking great pride in caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home.
She married the love of her life, William “Bill” C. Martin, and together they shared a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
Carol enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved watching Looney Tunes cartoons, going fishing and camping, and spending time at the movies. She also enjoyed baking and was especially famous among family and friends for her delicious homemade jalapeño bread. Her time spent in the kitchen was just one of the many ways she showed her love for those around her.
Carol was also a former active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed the fellowship and opportunity to support veterans and their families.
Above all, Carol treasured her family. She found happiness in the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the memories they shared will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.G. and Mildred Cook; her beloved husband, Bill Martin; four brothers, Billy Cook, Jimmy “Bo” Cook, and David Cook; and three sisters, Kay Williams, Debra Scott, and Paula Cook.
She is survived by her son, Rick Martin and his wife Sharilyn, of Clinton; her daughter, Tammy Thompson, of Cordell; three sisters, LaWanna Lee of Arapaho, Carol Tull of Wisconsin, and Sheila Roque of Burns Flat; three brothers, Tommy Cook and Rex Cook, both of Clinton, and Ace Cook of Lawton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Carol will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of life's simple joys, and the many special memories she leaves behind.
Burial of cremains will take place Friday, October 30, 2026, in the Clinton Cemetery, under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
