Clarence was raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and graduated from Parkersburg High School. Right after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served until retiring in 1976. During his military career, Clarence was stationed in many places including England, Japan, and several bases across the United States. While stationed at Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat, Oklahoma, he met the love of his life, Barbara Jones, and the two were married on September 29, 1962, in Clinton.

Clarence was deeply involved in his community and veteran organizations. He was a proud member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge both in Japan and Oklahoma. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work for 3M Company in Weatherford, where he retired again in the mid-1990s. Later, he served as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the town of Arapaho. Clarence also dedicated time as a commander at the VFW and as chaplain at the Clinton Veterans Center, where he later became a resident.

Clarence had many hobbies throughout his life. He loved photography and even owned his own business, Silver Edge Photography. He also enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and restoring old cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lillian Robinson; his wife Barbara Robinsn; brothers, Tom Robinson, Charles Robinson, and infant brother Larry Lee Robinson; sister, Linda Cutlip; daughter-in-law, Tracy Lighthill Robinson; and brother-in-law, Glenn Gregory.
