Dana Lee West, age 69, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. He was born August 13, 1955, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Lemuel L. and Minnie (Hauser) West.

Dana was raised in Calumet and graduated from Calumet High School in 1973. He continued his education at McCook Community College in Nebraska, earning his degree in 1981, and later attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, where he became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1983.

A dedicated servant to families during their times of loss, Dana served in numerous funeral homes across Southwest Oklahoma, including Stanley-Lee, Lockstone, Huber-Benson, and Russworm Funeral Homes. He also owned and operated funeral homes in Concho and Bristow, Oklahoma. Dana’s passion for funeral service was deeply rooted in compassion, tradition, and respect.

Proud of his Native American heritage, Dana was an active member of the Native American Church and the Bow String Society. He found peace and strength in attending Sun Dance ceremonies, often staying through the night. Dana also had a love for classic rock music and was often found strumming his guitar or sitting for hours by a campfire—two of his favorite ways to relax and reflect.

Dana’s memory will be honored with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Concho Emergency Response Center (E.R.C.) Building, with Rev. Gerald Panana officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

A traditional all-night wake will be held Monday, May 19, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the E.R.C. Building. Following the burial, all are invited to return to the E.R.C. for a meal and time of fellowship.

Dana Lee West’s life was one of service, culture, and music—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
