David Cagle

David Cagle, age 69, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, was born April 7, 1955, in the Cheyenne, Oklahoma area to Delmer and Silvia (Springer) Cagle. He passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Regency Nursing Home in Shawnee.

David was raised in the Cheyenne area, where he attended school and graduated from Cheyenne High School. Following high school, he continued his education by attending college for a time before beginning his working career.

Throughout much of his life, David worked in the oilfield as a mud logger, a career that took him to different places and allowed him to put his knowledge and skills to work in the oil and gas industry. Earlier in his life, during the late 1970s, David also worked as a photographer for Blunks. Photography gave him an opportunity to use his creative side and was one of the many varied interests he enjoyed throughout his life.

David was a man with a wide range of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed shooting and had an appreciation for firearms, and he was adventurous enough to enjoy scuba diving. Music was also an important part of his life, and over the years he enjoyed collecting vinyl records and listening to the music he loved. David also had a particular fondness for Mercedes automobiles.

Whether it was photography, music, cars, scuba diving, or one of his other interests, David enjoyed learning about the things that caught his attention and pursuing the hobbies that brought him enjoyment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Silvia Cagle; and two brothers, D.J. Cagle and Donald Cagle.

David is survived by his son, John Emery Cagle of Midland, Texas; his nephews, Joseph Cagle of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Jeff Cagle of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brett Cagle of Noble, Oklahoma; as well as other relatives and friends.

A graveside service for David will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, September 28, 2026, at Russell Cemetery near Cordell, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
