David Ray Hinds, age 71, longtime Clinton resident, was born on August 26, 1954, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, to Ray and Christine (Garner) Hinds. He passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 29, 2026, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
David spent his early childhood in Weleetka before moving to Clinton with his family during his teenage years. He attended Excelsior School in Clinton, where he completed his education and formed many lifelong friendships.
As a young man, David worked in the oilfield, embracing the hard work and determination that would define his life. Later, he found his calling as a farm and ranch hand, dedicating more than 30 years to caring for livestock and working the land. Those who knew David admired his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. After retiring from ranch work, he continued to stay active by working in maintenance at the Days Inn in Clinton until his second retirement in 2016.
Outside of work, David found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, listening to music, and working on cars. More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his family, creating memories with his children and grandchildren. He had a kind heart, an easygoing spirit, and was always happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Christine Hinds; his sister, Caroline Hinds; his brothers, Gregory Hinds and Alexisor Hinds; and two sons, David Ray Hinds Jr. and DeAngelo Hinds.
David leaves behind many who will cherish his memory, including his longtime companion, Terri Kemp of Clinton; his sons, Michael Ford and wife Amy of Oklahoma City, and Andre Ford and wife Erica of Oklahoma City; his daughters, Evetta Hinds and Davetta Hinds, both of Clinton; his brothers, Michael Prowell of Clinton and Roland Prowell of Oklahoma City; along with a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Hyman Memorial Chapel at Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
