Denver Woodrow Meacham II

Funeral Services for Denver “Denny” Meacham II, prominent Clinton attorney and longtime community leader, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the First Baptist Church, officiated by Robin Palesano and Randy Meacham. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

Denver Woodrow Meacham II was born August 14, 1939, to Denver Woodrow Meacham and Florence Amanda (Gannaway) Meacham in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home in Clinton, Oklahoma, while on lunch break from a day in the office meeting with clients.

Known affectionately as “Denny” by family and friends, he was a lifelong resident of Clinton except for a few years during college and during his military service. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1957. During his high school years, he excelled in athletics, participating in football, basketball, and track. His love and support for the Clinton Red Tornadoes continued throughout his life.

Following graduation, Denny attended the University of Oklahoma, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1961. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1963, becoming the third generation of his family to become an attorney in Western Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter, he was commissioned into the United States Army, serving in the Military Police Corps and attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He later continued his military service in the United States Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Captain.

Denny devoted more than 60 years to the practice of law in Clinton and became one of western Oklahoma’s most respected attorneys and civic leaders. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as Custer County District Attorney and was actively involved in numerous civic and professional organizations. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and served on several boards, including Clinton Savings and Loan and First National Bank & Trust of Elk City, where he served as Chairman of the Board for many years. In recognition of his many contributions to the community, he was honored as Clinton’s Citizen of the Year.

A devoted supporter of Clinton athletics, Denny faithfully served as the public address announcer of the Clinton Red Tornado football team for more than 50 years before retiring in 2020. His passion for the students, athletes, and community was evident in every broadcast.

In addition to his professional and civic accomplishments, Denny enjoyed playing tennis, reading, walking, and traveling. Denny’s biggest passion when not working, however, was watching sports in general and, University of Oklahoma sports, in particular. Weekends were often made or lost based on the outcome of a Sooner football game. It was a wonder when he married Patricia, an avid fan of Oklahoma State University athletics.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Ashley Hammond; and Ashley’s mother, Dianne Meacham.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Edwards of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sons, Scott Meacham and wife Susan of Edmond, Oklahoma, Greg Meacham and wife Kelley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Garrett Meacham and wife Ashley of Edmond, Oklahoma; a daughter, Allison Jillson and husband Ed of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Derek Hammond and Damon Hammond, both of Dallas, Texas; and a stepdaughter, Dacia Neuffer of Scottsdale, Arizona.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

Denny lived a life of service, passion for the law and commitment to his clients and family. He was an example for others of professionalism and integrity.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Clinton Public Schools Foundation, the Clinton Football Boosters Club, or the American Heart Association.
