Clinton resident Doris June Rollens, age 80, was born February 9, 1945, to C.B. and Lorene (Stephens) Gamel in Carnegie, Oklahoma, and passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by family
Doris was raised in Alfalfa, Oklahoma, and graduated from Eakly High School in 1964. She later attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, earning her education degree in 1974, and returned in the late 1980s to complete her master's in special education.
On April 16, 1966, she married the love of her life, David Rex Rollens, in Alfalfa. After their marriage, they lived in Burns Flat while David was stationed at Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base.
Following his discharge, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, in 1974, where they both taught school for five years. Doris taught Driver's Education, and at the elementary school during that time. In 1979 they moved to Minnesota for a brief time before returning to Oklahoma in 1980, where they made their permanent home.
Doris taught for Clinton Public Schools, and, in 1992, she and David entered into business ownership in partnership with Hinz Refrigeration, where she continued to work until recently.
She enjoyed fishing with her family, reading books, collecting antiques, cooking, and going on service calls with David. She loved sports of all kinds, especially watching her grandchildren's activities. Doris cherished family time, enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood on the family farm, and faithfully read her newspaper each day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.B. and Lorene Gamel; her husband, David Rollens; three brothers, W.B. Gamel, Curtis Gamel, and Dean Gamel; and her grandson, Bryan Bignell.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Rogers of Sayre and Dianna Fair of Clinton; sisters, Joy Thurston and husband Richard of Tennessee and Linda Scott of Carnegie; brother, Burl Don Gamel of Midwest City: four grandchildren, Danyal Walters and husband Lance of Clinton, David Dean Stotler of Clinton, Dustin Hart and Megan of Moore, and Delaney Funk and husband Frank of Clinton; twelve great-grandchildren, Delicity Walters, Devyn Walters, Brooklen Roberts, Dakota Stotler, Adriana Stotler, Payton York, Ayden Hart, Elliana Hart, Darcy Funk, Della Funk, Benjamin Bignell, and Bella Bignell; along with many cousins, extended family, and friends.
