Ernest Wayne Brown, 46, of Custer City, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026, near Thomas, Oklahoma.
Ernest was born December 4, 1976, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Richard Brown and Diane Sanner. He was raised in Weatherford and attended Weatherford High School, graduating with the Class of 1998. Following high school, he made his home in Thomas and the surrounding Custer City area, where he built his life, friendships, and family.
Ernest was a skilled welder and took great pride in his work. He was currently employed at the Flying W in Watonga, doing what he loved and what he did best. Over the years, he also worked with WW Livestock Welding, earning a reputation for his hard work and craftsmanship. His work was more than just a job—it was something he genuinely enjoyed and poured himself into.
A man of faith, Ernest was a proud attendee of Freedom Worship Center in Thomas, where he found strength, community, and fellowship.
Outside of work, Ernest lived life in a way that reflected his love for family and the simple joys that meant the most to him. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool with friends, and listening to music. He especially treasured time spent with his children—whether it was visiting, sharing stories, or shooting guns with his son. He was a devoted fan of OU football and softball, often watching games alongside his former father-in-law, Homer, creating memories that will be cherished.
More than anything, Ernest was incredibly proud of his children. They were the center of his world, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Brown, and his stepfather, Bob Kutchfar.
Ernest is survived by his son, Devin Brown of Thomas; his daughters, Shaylynn Brown and Karlee Brown, both of Thomas; and his former wife, Jenna Brown of Thomas. He is also survived by his mother, Diane Shatswell of Weatherford; his special friend, Barbara Perzanowski of Custer City; his sister, Treasa Ervin of Clinton; his brothers, John Pankratz and wife Kathy of Weatherford, and Michael Kutchfar of Tulsa; his sister-in-law, Jasmine Ogletree; and brother-in-law, Justin Ogletree; as well as his in-laws, Homer and Jamie Webster of Thomas.
He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Jayda Boggas of Weatherford, Shayden Curtis of Geary, Makayla Kutchfar, Ayezlyn Kutchfar, Michael James Kutchfar Jr., Amelia Kutchfar, and Christopher Cade Kutchfar, all of Tulsa; Jacob Pankratz of Apache; Cheresa Ervin of Florida; Stormy Sauer and Autumn Sauer, both of Thomas; Joby Ogletree of Putnam; and Dominic Brown, Makinna Croslin, Claretta Croslin, Raiden Ogletree, and Rider Ogletree, all of Thomas, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
