Edra Coleen Mannering

Edra Coleen Mannering, age 92, lifelong Thomas resident, was born August 26, 1934, on the family farm just east of Thomas, Oklahoma, to Edward and Bernice (Carney) Akin. She passed away early Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Coleen was raised in Thomas and graduated from Thomas High School in 1952. Following graduation, she attended Oklahoma State University for one year before returning home to marry the love of her life, James “Edsel” Mannering. They were married July 26, 1953, at the Thomas Methodist Church.

Coleen devoted her life to her family and home. She was a loving homemaker and farmer’s wife who was always willing to lend a hand with chores around the farm. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family and being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of the Thomas Methodist Church and was also a member of the Western Oklahoma Quilt Guild. Coleen was a talented quilter and seamstress and enjoyed spending time sewing and creating quilts. She also loved to cook and especially enjoyed attending the many ballgames and activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When she wasn’t cheering on her family, Coleen enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder and her Oklahoma State Cowboys. She was also a faithful viewer of The Lawrence Welk Show.

Coleen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice Akin; her husband, Edsel Mannering; and her daughter, Mary Cheryl Mannering.

She is survived by her sons, Bryan Mannering and his wife, Vicki , of Custer City, and Mark Mannering and his wife, Tina, of Custer City; her daughters, Dee Ann Moore and her husband, Mark, of Stillwater, and Brenda Kay Mannering of Clinton; her grandchildren, Will Mannering, Abby Grantham, Amanda Ritchie, Josh Moore, Trista Fletcher, Tyler Mannering, Trenton Mannering, and Trabor Mannering; 12 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Thomas Methodist Church, with Rev. Chaipen Nease officiating and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas.

The family will receive guests at the Lee Hometown Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2026.
