Eva Lee Stewart

Eva Lee (Alexander) Stewart was born December 20, 1929, in a farmhouse near Rocky, Oklahoma. She was the oldest child of Gayford Lee and Vivian Irene (Garner) Alexander.

Eva Lee graduated from Clinton High School in 1947. While attending high school, she worked at the local theaters, bus station, and dime store, demonstrating her strong work ethic from a young age.

On February 9, 1947, she married the love of her life, Dale Eugene Stewart. The couple made their home in Amarillo, Texas, where they began raising their family. Three children were born to this union: Mark, Lloyd, and Ramona. The family later returned to Clinton, Oklahoma, where Eva Lee began her long and dedicated career with the A.S.C.S., where she worked for 30 years.

Eva Lee was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton.

She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including scrapbooking, genealogy, photography, traveling, playing cards, and square dancing. She especially treasured her trips to Europe and Israel. Eva Lee was well known for sending greeting cards for every occasion and faithfully mailed cards to members of the OnGoers Club, ESA Sorority, family, and friends. One of her favorite pleasures was dining at Café Clinton, where she always ordered a cup of soup and coconut cream pie.

Eva Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Gayford and Vivian Alexander; her husband, Dale Stewart; infant daughter, Lana Jean Stewart; in-laws, Roy and Florence Stewart; son-in-law, Myron Hines; daughters-in-law, Jeanette Stewart and Camille Stewart; brothers, G.L. Alexander and Larry Alexander, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Glen Stewart and Frankie Stewart; Orel and Ralph Perkins; nephews, Gary Mueller, Terry Stewart, Larry Stewart, Russell Stewart, and David Shepherd; niece, Brenda Stockton; and her special friend of 30 years, Corky Ross.

She is survived by her three children, Mark Stewart, Lloyd Stewart, and Ramona (Stewart) Hines, all of Clinton; grandchildren, Ross Hines and his wife April of Whitewright, Texas, Stewart Hines and his wife Kelsey of Edmond, Oklahoma, Corey Stewart and his wife Janelle of Pinehurst, Texas, and Karetha Bruns and her husband Barry of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and great-grandchildren, Creede and Annora Hines of Whitewright, Texas, Kaybree, Hudson, and Marayah Dru Hines of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Jiselle and Caitlyn Stewart of Pinehurst, Texas.

She is also survived by her sisters, Melba Shepherd and Vivian Shay; sister-in-law, Ramona Alexander; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Eva Lee is additionally survived by Corky Ross’s family: Marsha and James Cookerly; Brian and Trista Sperle; Cooper and Meredith; Midge Sperle; Hardy Sperle; Marlee Sperle; Joey Moore; Rylan, Rance, and Revlynn Moore; Caleb and Mindy Moore and Tinley; Dustin Moore; Mark and Macey Ross; Ty and Casey Ross; and Kyle, Hayden, and Taylor Ross.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of River Valley Nursing Home and Shepherd Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to benefit Alzheimer’s and dementia research.

Services for Eva Lee Stewart will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, in the Hyman Memorial Chapel at Lee Hometown Funeral Home, officiated by Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ross Hines, Stewart Hines, Joey Moore, Caleb Moore, Brian Sperle, and Corey Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
