Fred Lee Stehr

Freddie Lee Stehr of Clinton, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after a long fight with cancer. He passed surrounded by family. Freddie was born on June 29, 1949 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Fred and Ida Stehr. He lived his whole life there graduating from Clinton High School in 1967. After high school, he attended one year at Southwestern State College. He joined the Army in 1969 and served 2 tours in Viet Nam, followed by time in Germany.

In August of 1973, Freddie married Jaree Maxwell of Loyal, OK. The couple would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on August 10. Freddie worked for Collins and Aikman and United before working for Southwestern Bell for 30 years. He was a switchboard operator, a lineman, an installer, and a repairman over the years. He and Jaree opened Memory Lane Antique Mall in Clinton in December of 1997. He however was a collector of all things long before they opened the store. Freddie was known for frequenting auctions.

Because of the interests of his children he was known for helping with 4-H projects, Custer County Fair, and Clinton High School Band over the years. Freddie and Jaree also loved following grandchildren to all sorts of activities. Their home in Clinton was always open to welcome friends and relatives.

Freddie and Jaree were faithful members of Cornerstone Church in Clinton, OK. They enjoyed the Age to Perfection group and Sunday School. They also enjoyed travel, especially in the fall in the Northeast. Freddie loved animals, but his favorite child was Jordan, the schnauzer.

The last couple of decades you could find him most days sitting at Memory Lane Antique Mall ready to help a customer, but most of all ready to visit with anyone that came in. It truly became Memory Lane, not because of the items from all decades for sale, but because of the stories, knowledge, smiles, and love he shared with anyone that stopped in long enough to get a conversation going. You might leave with a small treasure you could hold, but you definitely left with a small treasure imparted by Freddie.

Freddie is preceeded in death by his parents and several siblings.

He is survived by his wife Jaree Stehr, daughter, Jennifer Raab and husband Jerry of Altus, OK, son, Justin Stehr and wife Lindsay of Yamhill, OR, daughter, Jaretta Buchanan and husband Clay of Newalla, OK. He is survived by grandchildren; Jacob Raab, Colby Stehr, Thomas Buchanan, Josiah Raab and wife Harley, Kaden Stehr, Austin Buchanan, and Sophie Buchanan. He has one step-great granddaughter Isabella. He is survived by his brother Norman Stehr and wife Charlotte, sister-n-law Jacquelyn Pope, sister-n-law Jane Ernst, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday,  August 3, 2026 at the Cornerstone Church in Clinton, with Jared Nunn officiating, and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

A Family meet and visit will be in the Hyman Memorial Chapel located in the Lee Hometown Funeral Home, Sunday evening August 2, 2026 from 5PM to 7PM.
