Gwendolyn “Joy” Agan
Gwendolyn “Joy” Agan, age 93, lifelong Clinton resident, was born March 31, 1932, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Fred E. and Lena (Hays) Moad, Sr., and passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Red River Valley Nursing Facility.
Joy was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1950. Following graduation, she began working at TG&Y, where she remained until the fall of 1955, when she went to work for Mr. A.T. Wheeler at Local Finance in Clinton. In 1972, she began her career with First National Bank, serving there until 1985, and then joined the Bank of the West, where she worked until her retirement in August 1999.
Throughout the years, Joy was active in many organizations, including JC Janes, the Western Oklahoma Bankers Association, the Junior Service League, the Credit Women’s Association, the Star Sunday School Class at the First Church of God, the Red Hat Society group known as the Raspberry Tarts, and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Local Chapter Beta Phi, where she was a member-at-large for 45 years. She was also a lifelong member of the First Church of God, founded by her grandfather, Rev. C.S. Moad, and was recognized as the church’s oldest parishioner at the time of her passing.
Joy enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time outdoors, playing games on her iPad, and watching YouTube. She cherished her family and her community.
On December 26, 1952, she married the love of her life, Earl Agan, in Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lena Moad; her husband, Earl Agan; and her brothers, Fred Moad Jr. and Wayne Moad.
Survivors include her daughters, Marsha Meeks and husband Larry of Clinton, Pamela Nance of Yukon, and Sandra Jackson and husband Ronald of Sugar Land, Texas; extended family, J.D. Waller and wife Macy of Florida; her brother Harold Moad and wife Sharon of Hobart, four grandchildren, Kurt Meeks, Colin Nance, Taylor Jackson and wife Brittany, and Colby Jackson and wife Kristina; along with J.D.’s children, Livy Lu and Deuce great grandchildren Adira Faye Nance, Lincoln Jackson, Arura Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, with Scott Northrip and Roy Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to River Valley Skilled Nursing and Therapy, Shepherd Home Health, and Shepherd Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Joy.
