Ignacio “Jack” Flores Rios, age 81, of Clinton, Oklahoma, was born March 13, 1945, in Hamlin, Texas, to Faustino and Audona (Flores) Rios, and passed away at his daughter’s home in Clinton on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Jack was raised in Stamford, Texas. He moved to Clinton in the 1960s and made it his home for the remainder of his life. On May 12, 1965, he married the love of his life, Betty Mendez, in Anson, Texas, and together they built a life centered around hard work, family, and simple joys.
Jack was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever it took to provide for his family. Over the years, he worked in the cotton fields, cotton gins, and cotton oil mills; bartended at the Flamingo Bar; hauled hay; and worked in seismograph. No matter the job, he approached it with dedication and pride.
In his free time, Jack enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family, attending gatherings, watching western movies, listening to music, and being outdoors. Whether it was picking up cans or just sitting and visiting, he found joy in everyday moments and in the people he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Audona Rios; his wife, Betty Rios; two brothers, Manuel Rios and Faustino Rios, Jr.; two sisters, Cruz Rios and Juanita Rios; two grandchildren, Petronilo Castillo and Betty Castillo; and one great-grandchild, Baby Rios.
He is survived by his son, Ignacio Rios, Jr. and wife Rosa of Clinton; his daughter, Rachel Castillo and husband Alejandro of Clinton; his sister, Edna Paz and husband Felix of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren, Ignacio Rios III and wife Brenda, Lorenzo Rios and wife Astrid, Abbigail Rios, Cruz Rios, and Alejandra Castillo; and two great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Rios, Jr. and Lukas Rios. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday in the Hyman Memorial Chapel at Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
