Jeffry Michael Smith

February 15, 1984 — April 29, 2025

Alva, Oklahoma

Jeffry Michael Smith was born February 15, 1984 to Michael and Vickie Smith and died April 29, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. He attended school at Weatherford from kindergarten through 11th grade and graduated at the top of his class from Vici High School in 2002. Jeffry attended one year at Southwestern Oklahoma State University majoring in pre-pharmacy. He was a perpetual student who loved reading the encyclopedia for fun starting at age 12. He also used to help his teachers tutor students in subjects like algebra, chemistry, and trigonometry.

In 2016, Jeffry married Bobbie Rae Maze and they made their home in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Two children were born during their time together, Clayton Wesley, and Tex Michael.

Jeffry worked as a truck driver for Hawley Hot Oil company at the time of his death. He loved hard work and had a stubbornly strong work ethic, but deeply loved those he worked alongside. Whether he was out on the road, casting a line or spending time with his boys, Jeffery approached everything with joy and passion.

Jeffry loved spending time with his boys, fishing, playing baseball, shooting guns, playing Xbox, and watching movies. He also enjoyed playing golf with his boss, his cousins, and many friends. Jeffry also loved music and enjoyed playing guitar with his cousins, Damon and Dylan.

Jeffry was preceded in death by his father Michael Eugene Smith; his paternal grandparents, Shorty and Mildred Smith; maternal grandparents, Carroll and Haleta Smalling; and one sister, Kesia Lohse.

Jeffry is survived by his sons Clayton Wesley, age 11, and Tex Michael, age 7, of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; his mother, Vickie Cloninger, and her husband Joe, of Clinton; sister Mandi Milligan and her husband, Tyler of Marlow; sister, Kayli Affolder and husband, Brian of Oklahoma City; one brother, Steven Godwin and wife Dana of Ada, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom thought they were his favorite.

Jeffry will be remembered for his intelligence, his quick wit, his playful antics, his ability to recite movie lines and lyrics, his sensitive nature, and his great big loving heart.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Custer Avenue Church of Christ in Clinton, with Ryan Driskill officiating. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
