Juanita Eeds

January 7, 1942 – October 13, 2025

Juanita Eeds, age 83, lifelong resident of Clinton, Oklahoma, was born on January 7, 1942, in Clinton to Claud and Mattie (Baskett) Jones. She passed away peacefully in her home early Monday morning, October 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Juanita was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1960. She played violin in the school orchestra, and she really enjoyed it. Following graduation, she attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she earned her Associate Certificate in Business Administration. At 42 years old she returned to complete her Bachelor’s Degree, and in 1984 proudly earned her Master’s Degree in Mental Health.

On May 19, 1973, she married the love of her life, Baker B. Eeds, in Clinton, and together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage. Juanita’s professional life reflected her dedication to helping others, which she started at the age of 15, working at the city clerk’s office as the secretary. She continued on with working at the Oklahoma General Hospital as a switchboard operator and followed that by working at the TB Sanatorium. She also worked several years at the Oklahoma Highway Department, and did some part-time work at TG&Y. She followed that by being the full-time office manager for Lassiter Electric. She also enjoyed working at the Clinton High School as a substitute teacher for many years. In Juanita’s years after obtaining her master’s degree she spent several years as a counselor at New Horizons. After she completed her time there, she began working with her daughter Nettie at her retail store in Weatherford, where she opened and operated Little Angels Medical Equipment for the rest of her 30 year career. She always showed kindness and professionalism and touched many lives during her life.

Juanita was full of life and enjoyed simple pleasures that made her who she was — she loved to go two-step dancing, camping, and water skiing, and she adored spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and will always be remembered for her cheerful drives around town, often with a Coke from McDonald’s in hand. She also had a deep love for her six cats, who she affectionately called her “babies.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Mattie Jones; her brothers Joe Jones, Elmer Jones, and Roy Jones Sr.; her sister Opal Warnick; and her nephew Kirk Warnick, and a niece, Mary Jones.

Juanita is survived by her loving husband, Baker Eeds, of the home; her daughters Janet Goldstein and husband Gary of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Nettie Proctor and husband Mike of Clinton; her stepdaughter Gay Harnois of Clinton; and her stepson Ray Eeds and wife Nancy of Elk City. She is also survived by her brother Leonard Jones and wife Peggy of Perkins, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Taylor Martinez and husband Adam, Jacob Johnston and wife Olivia, Dillon Johnston, Jonathan Johnston, Derek Proctor, Kari Jo Podany, Josi Hager and husband Colby, and Gina Harnois; her great-grandchildren Baker Podany, Beckett Podany, Jagger Hager, and June Hager; her beloved cats Bandy, Inky, Little Bear, Bunny, Pistol, and Tippy; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral services for Juanita will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Broadway Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, with Robert White officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
