Judith Ann Christensen, 78, longtime Custer City resident, was born December 2, 1947, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Robert “Gerald” and Frieda Mae (Jones) Fortner. She passed away early Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home in Custer City.

Judith was raised in Custer City and graduated from Custer City High School in 1966. She married the love of her life, Paul Christensen, on August 5, 1969, at the Baptist Church in Thomas.

Following their marriage, Judith and Paul moved to Ponca City, where they lived for approximately 10 years while Paul worked for Conoco. During that time, Conoco also sent them to Denver, Colorado, for a year, and Judith loved her time there. After their years away, they returned home to Custer City, where Paul began farming and they made their home for the remainder of their lives together.

After returning to Custer City, Judith decided to go to work more as a hobby than a necessity. She first worked in the office at Custer City Schools and later spent several years working at K-Mart. She eventually went to work for Clinton Regional Hospital, where she remained for more than 20 years before retiring.

Judith loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren shopping. She loved to travel, with the mountains always being one of her favorite destinations. She also appreciated the simple pleasures in life, including a good Sonic drink.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Judith taught Sunday School at the Custer City Baptist Church when she was younger and was a member of the Custer City Christian Church. Her faith and family were at the center of her life. She was devoted to those she loved and was a true family person.

Judith was also a longtime cat lover. One special cat was part of her life for more than 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Frieda Fortner.

Judith is survived by her husband, Paul Christensen, of the home; her son, Andy Christensen, of Custer City; her daughter, Angela Walters and husband Anthony, of Clinton; her sister, Patricia Fergason, of Harrah; three grandchildren, Kelsey Knutson and husband Cade, of Weatherford, Hannah Flick and husband Braxton, of Oklahoma City, and Ryan Walters, of Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Kyson Knutson and Kortlynn Knutson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Custer City Christian Church, with Doyle Kinney officiating and under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
