Lois Marlene Heinrichs, 91, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, in Weatherford. She was born on July 2, 1934, in Corn, Oklahoma, to David “D.D.” and Martha (Friesen) Reimer.

Lois was raised in Corn and graduated from Corn High School in 1953. During her school years, she excelled both academically and athletically, serving as class president, graduating as salutatorian, and lettering in basketball and softball. Following graduation, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she was a member of the marching band.

On April 20, 1954, Lois married the love of her life, Don Heinrichs, in Corn, Oklahoma. Shortly after their marriage, Don was stationed in Germany. During his deployment, Lois remained at home and, alongside her sisters, lovingly cared for her recently widowed father, assisting with cooking, cleaning, and household responsibilities.

In 1957, Lois and Don moved to Garden City, Kansas, where after raising their sons Kevin and Kyle to school age, she began a distinguished career as librarian at Georgia Matthews Elementary School. She faithfully served the school and its students for 24 years before retiring in 1995. In 1997, Lois and Don returned to Weatherford to be closer to family and friends.

Retirement allowed Lois to devote her time to volunteering in her community. She generously served at the Etc. Shop and the Heartland Museum in Weatherford. She enjoyed playing piano and while in school played in a trumpet trio with her sisters.Lois was also an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling with Don after their retirement, visiting destinations throughout Europe, Alaska, Canada, and many other places.

Lois was a faithful member of Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, where she helped with youth ministry during her earlier retirement years. She was also a member of the Kansas Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.D. and Martha Reimer; her second mother, Katie Klaassen; brothers, Herbert Reimer and Harvey Reimer; and sisters, Erna Friesen, Lydia Reimer, Edna Ratzlaff, Melba Friesen, Martha Ann Kliewer.
