Loretta Faye (Hankins) Chenault, affectionately known by all as Faye, went to heaven on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of the family she so dearly cherished. She was 84 years old.
Faye was born on November 22, 1941, in Olustee, Oklahoma, the daughter of R.A. "Pup" and Bessie Opal (Nix) Hankins. She grew up in Eldorado, Oklahoma, spending her childhood there except for a brief, memorable time spent living in San Perlita, Texas. A proud graduate of Eldorado High School, Faye completed her schooling with the Class of 1960.
At a young age, Faye came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior. This foundational decision shaped the rest of her days, and she lived a life that was a beautiful reflection of her faith—always evident in the abundant love, kindness, and grace she displayed to those around her.
While Faye worked in various places over the years, her favorite, most special, and defining role was as the ultimate caretaker for her family. She made her family her absolute priority, living a life of true selflessness. With the utmost compassion and tenderness, she cared for both of her parents until their passing into heaven. Faye also opened her heart and home to raise her grandson, Trent, loving him as her very own child and dedicating herself to making his life incredibly special.
Faye was a true friend to everyone she met. She was the kind of person who would truly do anything for anyone, and her legacy of generosity, warmth, and open arms will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, R.A. and Bessie Hankins; her cherished son, Robert Dwight; her deeply missed grandson, Trent; and her brother-in-law, Frank Loveless.
Her legacy of love lives on in those who survive her, including her daughter, Jalonda, and her husband Jason Bengs; her granddaughter, Britten Bengs, all of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her sister, Camilla Loveless; and her brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Judy Hankins. She is also survived by a host of extended family members and dear friends who loved her deeply.
A service to honor, remember, and celebrate Faye's life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Oklahoma, with Don Lacy officiating, and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
