Luis C. Perez, 35, of Arapaho, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Hillsboro, Kansas. He was born on May 19, 1990, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Raul "Rudy" Perez and Karen Jean Perez.
Luis was raised in Arapaho and graduated from Arapaho High School in 2009. During his school years, he was a standout athlete, excelling in basketball, baseball, and soccer, and was proud to be part of a state championship soccer team. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and traveled frequently between the U.S. and Mexico, working as a pipeline foreman.
Luis had a talent for restoring old homes and trucks, a passion he pursued alongside his love for fishing, grilling out with family, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. He had a deep appreciation for traveling and discovering new places, but his greatest joys were his children and the time he spent with his sisters and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his biological father Rudy Perez; his adopted parents Lucio and Maria Gloria Perez; his cousin Christopher Allen Cline; and his grandfather, Gary Martin Cline.
Left to cherish his memory are his biological mother, Karen Perez of El Reno, OK; his children, Ayden Perez of Marion, KS, Karsyn Perez of Hillsboro, KS, and Malinda Perez of Marion, KS; his sisters, Alishia Perez of Clinton, OK, and Christina Perez of Newton, KS. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles including Dora and Rick Simon of Clinton, Carla Cline of Illinois, Danny Perez of Arapaho, Sara Perez of Liberal, KS, Gary Cline of Purcell, OK, and Kathi Cline of Illinois; and a host of cousins, including Zachary Perez of Oklahoma City and Somer Diaz of Liberal, KS.
Funeral services for Luis will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Father Mandagiri Balaswamy. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
Luis will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and the love he had for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
