Lyle Dean Lee

Lyle Dean Lee, age 89, longtime Custer City resident, was born October 25, 1936, in Geary, Oklahoma, to Otto Leroy and Ada Belle (Bradney) Lee. He passed away early Sunday morning, August 30, 2026, in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Lyle spent his early childhood in Geary before moving with his family to Custer City after the fourth grade. Custer City became home, and he graduated from Custer City High School in 1954.

On December 23, 1956, Lyle married the love of his life, Mary Frances Fry, in Thomas, Oklahoma. Lyle and Mary shared more than 50 years of marriage together, building a life centered around their home and family. Following Mary's passing, Lyle was blessed to find companionship again and married Donna Ruth on September 22, 2010, in Clinton, Oklahoma.

Following high school, Lyle began working for Humpty Dumpty Grocery Stores. His career took him to several communities, and he traveled extensively while managing a number of stores. In 1975, he returned home to Custer City and opened the Custer City Kwik Shop. For more than 20 years, Lyle owned and operated the store, which became not only his livelihood but also a place where he enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. He retired from the Kwik Shop in 1996.

Some of Lyle's favorite memories from his years at the store were the many games of Rook played with the guys who stopped by. He absolutely loved a good game of Rook and would occasionally trade the cards for a game of dominoes. More than anything, he enjoyed the friendship, conversation, and fellowship that came along with those games.

Above all else, family was extremely important to Lyle. He was proud of the family he and Mary built together and treasured the many years they shared. As his family grew to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and eventually great-great-grandchildren, they remained a great source of pride and happiness in his life. The time spent with those he loved was something Lyle valued deeply.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ada Lee; both of his wives, Mary and Donna; his son, Donald Dean Lee; his daughter, Marcia Diane Lee Jantz; his sister, Shirley Hilliard; and his grandson, Douglas Lee.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Donna Long of Custer City; his brother, Eddie Lee and his wife, Sharon, of Custer City; and his nephews, Chad Lee, Cary Hilliard, and Brint Hilliard.

He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Becky Kluckner and her husband, Gary, Emily Long, Lacey Bernal and her husband, Timothy, Miranda Lee, Daniel Lee and his wife, Tiffany, James Steffes and his wife, Stephanie, and Jessica Benavidez and her husband, Antonio.

His great-grandchildren include Alex Kluckner and his wife, Nikki, Audrey Kluckner, Addison Kluckner, Joy Lee, Ezra Lee, Malachi Lee, A.J. Benavidez, and Arith Benavidez; and his great-great-grandchildren, Athena Kluckner and Alva Lyle Kluckner.

Funeral services for Lyle will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the First Christian Church in Clinton, with Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery.

Family will meet with guest at the Funeral Home Friday September 4, 2026 from 6PM to 7PM
