Matthew Pierce Overton

January 12, 1986 – October 26, 2025

Matthew Pierce Overton, age 39, of Oklahoma City, passed away early Sunday morning, October 26, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born January 12, 1986, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Tom Overton and June Towles.

Matthew was raised an “Army brat,” spending his childhood in several places across the country, but called El Reno and Gallup, New Mexico home. He graduated from high school in Manhattan, Kansas, in 2004. From a young age, Matthew was known for his strong work ethic and his determination to make his own way in life. He worked diligently in the oil field industry, a career that suited his grit, drive, and resilience.

Matthew lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played harder, always living in the moment and never passing up the chance to enjoy time with family and friends. His sense of humor was larger than life, and his laughter was contagious. Matthew was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen—he had time for everyone, no matter how busy he was. One of his most memorable acts of love was driving 26 hours straight just to take his mother to dinner, a true reflection of his heart and devotion to family.

He was immensely proud of his Navajo heritage and carried that pride with honor throughout his life.

Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Owen B. Towles Jr.; his uncle, Chris Wayne Towles; his aunt, Ramona Lynn Towles; his paternal grandfather, Bud Overton; and his father, Vincent Edward Tony.

He is survived by his mother, June Delov of Oklahoma City; his MeMa, Beverly Ann Ricketts of El Reno; four beloved daughters, Angel M. Zarate, Destiny Yazzie, Honey Overton, and Suzanna Overton, all of Gallup, New Mexico; his brothers, Zachary Overton of Oklahoma City, Justin Overton of Edmond, Jeremy Overton of Pe Ell, Washington, Keith Tony of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ramone Tony, also of Phoenix; along with numerous extended family and many dear friends who will deeply miss him.

A traditional all-night wake will be held Wednesday, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Concho ERC Building. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, also at the Concho ERC Building, with Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home of Clinton.
