Melvin Eugene Terrell was born January 27, 1946, in Thomas, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Helen (Preston) Terrell. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Corn Heritage Village and Rehabilitation in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Melvin's life was rooted in Custer County and shaped by hard work, service, and a deep love for his family. He spent his early years in Clinton before moving to Custer City, where he graduated from high school in 1966. That same year, on October 28, he married the love of his life, Sharon Blankenship. Together, they built a home and a life centered on family, faith, and community.

Melvin began his working years farming before being drafted into the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and began a long and steady career with the Custer City Co-op, where he worked faithfully for 42 years before retiring in 2011 as a skilled and trusted shop mechanic. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

A man of quiet generosity and dependable character, Melvin served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Custer City Fire Department for over 20 years. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, where his presence and steady spirit were a comfort to those around him.

Melvin found joy in the simple things, casting a line in the water, camping under the open sky, working with his hands in his shop, and keeping a well-tended yard. He especially enjoyed helping others, whether by lending a hand, mowing a yard, or sharing his time and skills. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, who were the center of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leonard Terrell, Larry Terrell, and C.W.
