Otto Russell Musick, age 87, longtime Clinton resident, was born August 17, 1939, in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Vina Easter (Smith) Musick. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in his Clinton home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Otto was raised in Cheyenne, where he attended Cheyenne Public Schools. Following his school years, he moved to Clinton, where he would make his home for the remainder of his life. On November 11, 1963, he married the love of his life, Dona Mae McCallister, in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Together, they shared nearly 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and lasting memories. Dona was not only his wife but also his devoted companion and partner through all of life's adventures.
Otto was a hardworking man who took great pride in everything he did. During his early working years, he traveled with road construction crews before beginning a career as a diesel mechanic for Bob Smith, where he worked for 28 years. Known for his mechanical abilities and his knack for fixing just about anything, Otto was happiest when he had something to work on and could put his skills to good use.
Outside of work, Otto enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and enjoyed spending time outdoors, making sure everything looked just right. He loved woodworking, creating projects with his hands, and spending countless hours tinkering in his shop. Whether he was repairing something, building something new, or simply working on one of his many projects, Otto found satisfaction in staying busy and making things useful and lasting. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.
One of Otto's greatest joys in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Jake, whom he dearly adored. The two shared a special bond, and some of their most treasured memories were made simply spending time together. They especially enjoyed cheering on their beloved Oklahoma Sooners. Saturdays during football season were more than just game days; they were opportunities to spend time together, share in the excitement of OU football, and create memories that Jake will carry with him for a lifetime.
Otto was a member of the Church of Christ and was also a proud member of the Cheyenne Round Up Club in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed the fellowship, friendships, and traditions of his community.
Above all, Otto was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family deeply and showed that love through his dedication, his hard work, and the many simple but meaningful things he did throughout his life. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his ability to fix nearly anything, his love of family, and the special memories he leaves behind. His legacy will live on through the things he built, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely to those closest to him.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Vina Musick; his sisters, Naoma Black, Juretta McClure, Patsy Hensley, and Gladys Henson; and his brothers, Dean Musick and Charles Roper.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Dona Mae Musick, of the home; his daughter, Peggy Marie Preston and her husband, Tommy, of White Deer, Texas; his beloved grandson, Jake Milligan of Pampa, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff, nurses, aides, and social workers of Good Shepherd Hospice Care of Elk City, Oklahoma. Although their time caring for Otto was brief, the kindness, compassion, and support they provided to Otto and his family will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at donorservices.Alzheimer's Association .
In accordance with Otto's wishes, he will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
Though Otto may be gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts. His love, his laughter, and the many wonderful memories he leaves behind will continue to be treasured by his family and all who knew him.
