Patrick Dean Ater, age 45, of Clinton, was born October 8, 1979, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to William Dean Ater and Robin Kimberlin (Sharp). He passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home in Clinton.

Patrick spent his early childhood in Jacksonville before attending grade school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and high school in Springfield, Missouri. In the spring of 2004, he moved to Clinton, where he made his home.

Patrick loved playing his guitar and writing his own music. He also enjoyed video games, watching movies, and in his younger years, spending time outdoors fishing and swimming.

He is survived by his father, William Ater of Butler; his mother, Robin Sharp of Clinton; two brothers, Brian O’Neal Ater of Geary and William Dean Ater Jr. of Corn; along with several aunts, uncles, two nieces, and two nephews.

Viewing will be held all day Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Lee Hometown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Clinton Nazarene Church. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
