Rene Soto

Rene Soto, age 36, a lifelong resident of Clinton, Oklahoma, was born on March 22, 1990, in Clinton to Felipe J. Soto and Aurora (Espinosa) Soto. Surrounded by the love of his family, Rene passed away early Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026, in Oklahoma City.

Rene was raised in Clinton and attended Clinton Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 2009. During his school years, he developed a passion for soccer, a sport he loved and excelled in. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Rene worked for Midwest Inspection, where he was employed in pipeline inspection and also utilized his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as a driver. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and willingness to help others.

A devoted father, Rene treasured every moment spent with his children, Giovanni and Lexi. He loved cheering them on at their sporting events and creating lasting memories with them. One of his favorite pastimes was playing PlayStation with his son. Family was the center of Rene's life, and he cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved.

Rene enjoyed watching basketball and football, never caring which teams were playing—he simply loved the games. He also enjoyed traveling to Mexico, where he especially loved riding horses and spending time with family and friends. Those who knew Rene will remember him as a caring, kind-hearted, and remarkably strong individual whose love for his family and friends knew no bounds.

He is survived by his parents, Felipe J. and Aurora Soto of Clinton; his son, Giovanni Soto of Clinton; his daughter, Lexi Soto of Clinton; his sisters, Araceli Moreno and husband Leonel, Brenda Martinez and husband Lucas, and Anayeli Soto, all of Clinton; and his maternal grandfather, Jesus Espinosa of Mexico.

He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Aner Soto, Jorge Marquez, Max Soto, Rafael Moreno, Juliana Martinez, Gabriela Martinez, Lucas Martinez Jr., and Camila Martinez; as well as his great-nephew, Isaiah Ford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiated by Father Balaswami. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday evenings in the Hyman Memorial Chapel of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
