A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, April 11, 2026, in the Grace Baptist Church in Dill City, OK. Arrangements by the Lee Hometown Funeral Home in Clinton, OK.
Don, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to Charles “Buddy” Maddox and Shirley (Downs) Harris. He was raised in Cordell, Oklahoma, where he attended Cordell Public Schools and participated in wrestling. He graduated from Cordell High School in 1974.
Don was truly a jack of all trades. He began working at a young age alongside his father and grandfather on the family farm near Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He later spent much of his career as a truck driver, hauling cattle across the country from coast to coast.
On February 6, 1976, Don married Roxanne Kappel, and to this union three children were born: Tiffany, Kelly, and Derrick. Later in life, he met Tracy Askew, and they were blessed with a daughter, Suni. Don and Tracy united in 2019, making their home in Mountain View, OK, before settling in Dill City, Oklahoma. They were officially married on December 10, with his daughter Kelly officiating, and his brother and sister-in-law serving as witnesses.
Don was proudly saved at Grace Baptist Church in Dill City and held strong to his faith.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; numerous other relatives; and his beloved four-legged companion, Biggin.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Maddox of the home; his big brother and favorite sister-in-law, Mike and Sandra Maddox of Canute; his children, Tiffany Watson and husband Jason of Mountain View, Kelly Maddox of Cordell, Suni Balough and husband Josh of Erick, and Derrick Maddox and wife Nikki of Cordell; and his grandchildren, Kaylie, Madie, Justin, Levi, Talon, Zander, Jordan, Lexi, and Cassie; great granddaughters Blaiklee and Ari.
