Funeral Services for Ross Danny Lau, 78, Clinton resident will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in the Hyman Memorial Chapel at Lee Hometown Funeral Home in Clinton, Ok. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.

Danny passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Danny was born August 10, 1946 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Alvin and Viola (Steigman) Lau. He grew up on the family farm south of Clinton where as a child he developed a love and appreciation for farming and ranching.

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1964. During high school, Danny was a standout basketball player receiving All-State recognition his senior year, a season in which he was the leading scorer, and helped his team win the first state championship in school history. The championship team was honored at the “Big House” in 2024, and was inducted into the Inaugural Clinton “Red Tornado” Athletic Hall of Fame the same year.

On July 3, 1965, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Linda Sights. Each like to tell their own version of how they met when Linda asked Danny out on a date during Sadie Hawkins week at school. To this union, two children were born, Matthew and Laura. During their marriage, Danny lived in Germany, Lawton, Bartlesville, Jenks, Hugo, McAlester, Tulsa, and Clinton meeting many life-long friends and making memories along the way.

After graduation, Danny enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a non-commissioned officer for 3 years specializing in Microwave Radio Systems Repair. While stationed in Germany, he played basketball as part of the Army, and often talked about traveling to other countries to compete.

After being honorably discharged from the service, Dan began his career with Public Service Company of Oklahoma as a meter reader. Through hard work, dedication, and an eagerness to learn, he steadily advanced over the course of a 33-year career. In 1992, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Cameron University, a degree he completed while working full time. Dan retired from PSO as the Western Division Manager, a testament to his perseverance and strong leadership. After his time at PSO, Dan then continued working as a consultant for energy solutions, and worked with the economic development department for the city of Elk City for many years, negotiating contracts and attracting several new businesses. During the span of his career he served various roles and appointments with organizations including Leadership Oklahoma, the Lawton/Ft. Sill Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way Foundation. Dan officially retired in 2023.

In 2000, Dan and Linda returned to Clinton and built their dream home together—a place filled with warmth, love, and hospitality. They cherished the beauty of western Oklahoma sunsets, found joy in caring for their longhorn cattle, and created lasting memories hosting gatherings of family and friends.

Dan was a passionate and lifelong supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners, faithfully attending football games—both at home and on the road—for many decades. He also took great joy in cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Dan was especially proud of his children and grandchildren, cherishing the unique bond he shared with each of them. He generously offered his wisdom to family and friends, and was a trusted source of knowledge and insight to all who knew him.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Linda, his parents, Alvin and Viola Lau,  and a twin brother, Ray Dennis Lau. He is survived by his son, Matthew Lau and his wife, Andi, of Oklahoma City, and his daughter, Laura Yokley and husband, Brad, of Owasso, Oklahoma; three grand girls: Leah Lau and Makenna and Sarah Yokley; his siblings, Janie Branstetter and husband, Brian, of Duncan, and Alvin Lau, Jr. and wife, Dana, of Owasso; a Sister-In-Law, Cherie Lau, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
