Roy Jones

Funeral service for William Roy Jones, Sr., 92, of Clinton, will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 2:00 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Clinton.

He died Friday, June 6th at the River Valley Skilled Nursing and Therapy in Clinton.

Roy was born February 9, 1933, to Claude and Mattie (Baskett) Jones in Stafford, OK. He married Betty Lou Graves on July 1, 1954 and established their home in Clinton. He started his own construction company in 1960. He continued working with his sons in construction, as well as farming and ranching, until his retirement.

Roy was a longtime and active member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Clinton. He loved spending time with his family and thoroughly enjoyed telling his ‘grandpa jokes’.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, brothers Elmer and Joe Jones, sister, Opal Warnick, nephew, Kirk Warnick, and great-granddaughter, Maggie Dunn.

Survivors include three sons, Roy Jr. and wife Fonya of Clinton, Randy Sr. and wife Amy of Arapaho, and Ronnie and spouse Bob West of Porter; three daughters, Marsha McGuire of Fulton, MO, Nancy Winter and husband Eldon of OKC, and Linda Eggleston and husband Ron of Texhoma; one sister, Juanita Eeds and husband Baker of Clinton, one brother, Leonard and wife Peggy of Perkins; sister-in-law Pearl Matlock and husband Ralph of Cushing, brothers-in-laws Ted Graves of Globe, AZ and Don Graves and wife Mary Jean of Yukon; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff of River Valley Skilled Nursing and Therapy and Good Shepherd Hospice.

Services will be officiated by Charles Murphy and Ron Eggleston. Interment will follow at Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
