Thomas Dewayne Trout

December 17, 1956 – June 26, 2025

Thomas Dewayne Trout, age 66, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born December 17, 1956, in Oklahoma City to Ivan Wayne and Georgia Marie (Bates) Trout.

Thomas was raised in the Oklahoma City area before moving to Mangum as a young child, where he graduated as a proud Mangum Tiger in 1975. He went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where in 1978 he met the love of his life, Juanita “Skeeter” Trout.

He devoted over 35 years to working with the Indian Health Service in Clinton, followed by several years with Lucky Star Casino. He retired from both in 2021 following the COVID-19 pandemic.

An avid athlete, Thomas began playing competitive softball in 1979 with the Red Race, a team coached by Glen Wermy that included teammates Charlie Welborne, Rick Welborne, Orville Whiteskunk, and many others. Together, they earned multiple state championships and were ranked among the top ten teams in the nation for several years. Locally, he played with the Sand Baggers and other teams.

Thomas had a deep love for sports—not just playing, but coaching and supporting his children in their activities. He especially enjoyed coaching his son Tommy in youth sports and proudly cheered on his kids in soccer. A lifelong fan of the Clinton Red Tornadoes, he also enjoyed following the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder, and was thrilled to witness the Thunder recently win the NBA Championship.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Baby Boy Trout and Sahkona Trout; grandson, Tyler Joe Starr Trout; the mother of his children, Juanita “Skeeter” Trout; niece, Regina Starr-Mata; sister, Rebecca Marie Trout; and nephew, Ramus Hicks Jr.

Cherishing his memory are his son, Tommy Trout and his partner Gina Esparza of Clinton; daughter, Sheena Trout of Clinton; sisters, Donna Kicks of Altus and Kathy Leaper of Sentinel; brother, Rocky Leaper of Sentinel; grandchildren: Christopher Borjas and wife Gabby, Ariana Borjas, Ivan Trout, Jordan Trout and Abby Rhoads, McKinleigh Trout, Audrina Trout, Jaydenn Trout, Cameron Trout, Braden Trout, Eden Trout, and Abigail Trout; and great-grandchildren: Christopher Borjas Jr., Sophia Borjas, Kona Greenwood, Ellie Borjas, and one more on the way.
