William “Floyd” Hoffman

 November 13, 1933 – May 4, 2025

With the American flag waving proudly above him and his loved ones at his side, William “Floyd” Hoffman passed from this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was 91 years, 5 months, and 21 days old.

Born November 13, 1933, in Foss, Oklahoma, Floyd was the son of William Carl and Vera Mae (Smith) Hoffman. He was raised in Stafford and graduated from Stafford High School in 1951. That same year, he married Evelyn Hoffman and, on his 18th birthday, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he faithfully served his country for 20 distinguished years. He retired in 1971 with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Floyd’s decorated military career reflected his deep patriotism and commitment to service. Among the honors he received were five Good Conduct Medals, the China Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. His unwavering dedication to his country remained a core part of his identity throughout his life.

Following his naval retirement, Floyd continued serving others through a second career in real estate, working as a broker with Homefinders Realty in Clinton under Sherry Lawrence. In 1999, he found love again and married Retha Rae Phipps on September 24 in Clinton, where they built a life full of faith, family, and fellowship.

Floyd was a devoted member of Cornerstone Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.), and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was deeply rooted in his Christian faith and equally proud of his country. Whether traveling with Retha, playing board games with his grandchildren, or simply sharing stories of his Navy days, Floyd brought joy and wisdom to every gathering.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn; and a sister, Lorene Marsico.

Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Retha, of the home; two sons, Tracy Pease and wife Kelly of Weatherford, and Tony Pease and wife Janelle of Clinton; a daughter, Shelley Jones of Clinton; and a sister, Ann Spitz and husband DeLoy of Oklahoma City. He leaves behind six grandchildren—Vance Burden, Houston Jones, Ryan Pease, Kyle Pease, Turner Pease, and Smith Pease—and two great-granddaughters who will carry forward his legacy.

A celebration of Floyd’s life and legacy will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, with Rev. Jerrod Nunn and Rev. Roy Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Clinton Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

Fair winds and following seas, Chief Hoffman. Your service, your faith, and your love for family and country will never be forgotten.
